Fun day at Keeneland

Welcome to my blog

This is nothing special just the ramblings of a middle aged woman that likes to share fun things and sometimes things that concern me or I am passionate about. I hope you will enjoy sharing time with me.

Hello everyone, I have been gone for sometime, but ready to share some life experiences with you.
I have been humbled by my children. Not so much by what they say, but what they do. Today is Mothers day, they are so much a part of the world of Mothers in the best possible way!!!!!I like to think they have learned by example, not really sure about that. Patience was never a strong point for me. They are so relaxed and patient with the situations that surround them I feel myself wanting to be more like them. I am very proud to say I have raised strong women, great daughters, wonderful mothers and the best members of society.Thank you God for letting me be their Mom!!!!
On a different note. Last night I attended the wedding of a friends daughter. We went through grade school and high school together. What a wonderful night it was!!!! Not only did I get to see the wonderful family she and her husband have raised, but I got to be a part of them for a little while. What a blessing friends are!!!! There are times when life gets busy, families are formed, time with friends are few and far between. Like majic everyone is together again and it's like a day was never skipped. True friendship is like that!!!! The moment I saw the bride, it was her mom 25 or so years before when I was in her wedding. What a blessing it is to have these people in our lives!!!!!
I realize I am rambling(that is the name of my blog). I just want to say Happy Mothers Day to all the wonderful Moms I know and especially to my Mom that I feel so blessed to still have as a vital part of my life. Until next time, be safe, be happy and know you are loved!!!!!!

Sunday Feb. 13th, 2011

Hello!
I have been gone for some time. I have a few thoughts to share.
Today has been one of those days when you feel blessed to be alive and able to enjoy the wonderful things that come your way. First the sunshine. What a blessing after the winter weather we have endured. I'm sure we still have more to come, but the break is much needed and very appreciated.
I spent the day with my parents and I feel so blessed to be able to enjoy them. They are amazing. It seems the people around them are aging in different ways, they are too I know. I either choose to ignore it or they are doing it with such grace it just seems natural. They are teaching me a wonderful lesson I hope to be able to follow.
I saw my daughter June and her family. Her kids are full of fun and vigor. A joy to be around. They make me feel like life is standing still and I am right in the middle enjoying every minute they have to give me.
I was with my sweet granddaughter Mary Allison who never ceases to amaze me with her kindness and love for everyone around her.
We have many wonderful moments to enjoy in this new year. Some we know about. The addition of a new granddaughter in July is at the top of my list.
Roger and I have ventured out in preparation for retirement and have purchased property in Fl that we will be working on to enjoy for years to come. We will be spending a little time there now and hopefully more time when the oppurtunity to do so is there for us.
I hope this day was as special to all my friends and family as it was for me. Wishing you a wonderful night and an even better day tomorrow.
Happy Valentines day!!!!!!!!!!!!

New Phase

Tomorrow I will start working part time in my full time position. I am so excited. I will be working 3 days a week. I feel so fortunate to be able to do this. There comes a time when you know life holds things you can't accomplish without the time needed to do this{one of the things aquired from getting older, I will never say old). I think of my friends at work not only as coworkers, but as part of my life I truly enjoy. I'm not sure when the time will come that I will truly be able to give this up. This new oppurtunity seems like the best of both worlds. I hope to be able to work in my yard more, spend time with my parents that I feel so fortunate to still have in my life. Spend time attending my Grandkids school functions and I do mean GRAND. What a blessing to have them in my life. I hope to exercise more and improve my health (it's not bad but needs upkeep)so I can enjoy my life to the fullest.
My life is not perfect by any means, but I feel I have been so blessed and I thank God everyday for the many blessings and challenges he puts in my path because to me that is what makes us the people we become.
This past week I spent with 3 dear friends enjoying life and the beauty God has given us. Beaches,(although limited because God felt rain was needed more than sunshine)sunrises, sunsets, wonderful food, wonderful stories of times past, laughter, tears, and hope for the future and memories to be made. I am a lucky lady.
I will close today and hope each one who reads my blog will have a great week ahead and make wonderful memories of their own. Until next time.

Hello everyone I am back. Had something to share couldn't keep to myself(probably would be better off if I did). Anyone who knows me would tell you I am accident prone. Not normal accidents you understand, but accidents that sound made up that aren't. I was visiting my daughter and her family at a campsite this wk end. Looking forward to a relaxing day at the pool enjoying my grandkids and my three daughters, two that were visiting with their children for the day. We are by the BABY POOL!!!!!!!!!!! I go to sit down and enjoy watching my 2 yr old grandkids. My foot slips on the bottom of the pool and down I go ( BABY POOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)Come up hair dripping, no chance in playing as if nothing has happened when the lifeguard is running to you and the two grandbabies I am suppose to be watching are crying because their grandmother is lying in the baby pool. I am fine only a bruised arm and hip bone(major bruising) no comparison to the broken ankle 2 yrs ago(don't ask). The life guard very sweey gives my Graddaughter a bracelet she is wearing to calm her. She falls asleep on the way home with her bracelet on her little arm the same color as Nina's bruises. Great day, Wouldn't trade it for anything. Until next time

I told you in my last blog about the cookbooks that were being done in my friends memory. They are here!!!!!!!!! What a treat. Recipes from some of the best cooks I know in our community and friends from everywhere. What a tribute. I plan to try some new recipes from it and blog about them.

After the week end

Hello everyone

The wk end was most enjoyable , but went by way to fast. I still am sore from yard work and working in my garden.
I want to tell you about something that is near and dear to my heart. I lost one of my closest friends to breast cancer August 2009. The office she worked in ( I say that just to let you know who is getting this together because she was as dear to them as she was to me) has published a cookbook "Cooking for a Cure". Over 400 recipes have been submitted. This will be an awesome cookbook and the proceeds will go directly to Breast cancer research. If you are interested please leave me a comment with information to contact you. The books are 20.00 and will be well worth every dollar collected. I would love to share a piece of my friends life through this wonderful tribute to her. Thanks in advance to all who may be interested.

Saturday my favorite

I am loving this day. Spring is in the air. This is my favorite season. Everythig budding and getting green. It truly makes everything alive and new.
I am getting ready to head out to my flower garden for a little maintenance from the winter. I love looking at all my flowers that pop up. No matter how cold it gets they never disappoint me. I haven't been gardening long enough to remember all the names or when they are suppose to bloom, but that is part of the surprise. I have mostly perineals, but I like to add annuals to the mix.
I always plant alot of herbs. My husband just brought in a box filled with all different kinds. I hope I am not jumping the gun by planting them this early. You never know about Ky weather.
This afternoon we will be attending our Granddaughters birthday party. We will get to see alot of our little ones there. Some are not so little anymore. The oldest is almost 16 yrs old and the youngest is 1 yr old. I will try to get some good pictures for you to see. I will have to figure out how to downlaod them to my blog. The 1 yr old may be 16 before I figure it out.
I hope it is a good day where you are.
I need to get to work. Until later
